PETbc Diplomas

The PETbc Diplomas are for candidates with existing experience and knowledge, who want to enhance their accumulated knowledge and understanding of their chosen field. A PETbc Diploma will take candidates to the next level so they truly stand out amongst competitors.

The PETbc Diplomas are suitable for:

Canine behaviourists, practitioners and training instructors who want to add value to their existing services.

Candidates who work in pet related fields such as groomers, day care, pet sitters and walkers, with goals of operating their own start-up business.

$

Canine behaviour practitioners employed as expert witnesses (must hold a law module at level 4).

$

Candidates who are working in a canine-related field (perhaps as an assistant or employee) and wish to realign their career and become self-employed.

$

A canine enthusiast with a strong canine-related academic background and personal experience with goals of working in the pet industry.

There are three PETbc Diplomas available and awards are granted by the Council’s awards body.

          The diplomas have been designed to assist the student to comply with PETbc job role descriptions and National Occupation Standards. The PETbc requires the student to demonstrate competence in working with canines specifically and thereafter maintaining this competence. This approach is designed to ensure that candidates have the appropriate knowledge and skills to perform their chosen job role effectively.

            What Is the PETbc Diploma Structure?

            Course Structure:

            This is a distance learning programme that includes self-study, analysis, and evaluation of information and theoretical perspectives applied to practical knowledge. It is essential that the candidate has practical experience and can quantify their claim for this award.

              Course Aims:

              To illustrate and quantify the academic qualifications, theoretical perspectives, practical skills and experience of the student.

                Course Duration

                The course can be undertaken at any time and over any reasonable period within a time frame of six months from the agreed specified start date.

                  Support:

                  Once enrolled, a course tutor will be allocated to the candidate. The course tutor will provide course material.
